The
beautiful Evening Primrose and the decorative
Starflower herb have been used by herbalists
centuries ago for their healing properties.
Recent scientific studies have shown that both
the Evening Primrose and Starflower contain very
high levels of polyunsaturated essential fatty
acids (EFAs). But the key feature of these
flowers stems from their unusually high content
of one particular EFA called Gamma Linolenic
Acid or GLA, which is essential for the
maintenance of good health.
Both these natural oils have proven to be
extremely rich in one particular
polyunsaturated- Gamma Linolenic. This GLA is
not found in our diet naturally, but is produced
by our body as a result of a conversion process
which changes Linoleic Acid (LA) found in
vegetable oils, nuts, wheatgerm, and avocado,
into GLA. This, in turn converts to
prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are our body's
policemen which regulate a variety of bodily
functions.
Millions of women take these natural oils
everyday since it is essential for them during
their menstruation as they can help maintain a
natural hormone balance as well as maintain
healthy skin, supple joints, healthy hair and
nails and general good health. |
